MBLAQ was still powerful and charismatic without Lee Joon and Thunder.
On June 9, MBLAQ, the now three-member group, held a comeback showcase for their eighth mini album “Mirror” at Ilji Art Hall in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu in Seoul. It was the group’s comeback after a 14-month hiatus. The reorganized group announced another restart as a trio, consisting of Seung-ho, G.O and Mir. Former members Lee Joon and Thunder left the group after their contracts with J. Tune Camp expired last December.
MBLAQ started the event by introducing their eighth mini album. “The title, “Mirror”, has some ambiguous lyrics. They work with either love or friendship. Also, just like the title, it can represent you reflected in the mirror,” explained G.O.
Seung-ho is said to have played the piano in the intro of the song. “We originally had another song for the intro. However, I ended up playing the piano for it. We really worked hard on the song, because we wanted the song to represent our new start.”
Mir went on, “”Tree” is a song dedicated to our fans. We know they expressed a lot of concerns when we announced changes in the member lineup. It would be really nice if the fans liked the song; we hope to be like a huge tree for our fans so that they can rely on us.”
The members have been caught up in controversy over the fact that whether the title “Mirror” aims two former members Lee Joon and Thunder or not. Seung-ho replied, “Well, some of you may think like that. But the thing is, we do not blame them. It’s true we were disappointed once, but things are over now, and we just want to leave good times behind us. We hope people don’t take the song seriously,” he explained.
“The song does not have anything to do with the former members. No,” said G.O.
MBLAQ is well known for their manlike, charismatic performances. To the question asking whether they will show another sexy and masculine choreography, G.O replied, “Yes. Definitely. We put a lot of efforts and time in making the dance moves. Please look forward to seeing us on stage.”
MBLAQ will hold comeback stages on this week’s music shows, launching promotions for the new album. The group is all set to take another fresh start as trio.
