MBLAQ was still powerful and charismatic without Lee Joon and Thunder.
On June 9, MBLAQ, the now three-member group, held a comeback showcase for their eighth mini album “Mirror” at Ilji Art Hall in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu in Seoul. It was the group’s comeback after a 14-month hiatus. The reorganized group announced another restart as a trio, consisting of Seung-ho, G.O and Mir. Former members Lee Joon and Thunder left the group after their contracts with J. Tune Camp expired last December.
MBLAQ had been through hard times before their comeback. To the question asking whether there was anything that gave them strength. “We had a lot of concerns whether we could stand on our feet again,” Seung-ho replied. “When we started making new music for our new album, however, we noticed there still was hope, that we could start all over again.”
“I was kind of surprised when our fans requested we appear on “King of Mask Singer”,” said G.O. “I mean, that’s a program where only great singers get to perform onstage, isn’t it? I was so grateful for our fans’ sweetest offer. That’s when I thought we should work hard to meet their expectations.”
Mir continued. “I once left a message on our fan site. I wrote, “We are doing fine, so never worry about us.” Then, I happened upon my posting on the day of our debut; it was October of 2009. It was all about my excitement and appreciation for my fans. Reading it once again, I gained strength. I realized there was nothing to worry about.”
What do you suppose they are planning to achieve from their new album and promotions? “Well, I’m 29. This album will be my last before going to the army. That’s why I just want to focus on our work, and do our best for our fans,” said G.O.
“Being part of MBLAQ. That’s all I wish for. What I want to earn from the new album? Well, I wish we make some improvements. We want to be musicians who make progress.”
“I think this album will be like a turning point for all of us. I want to make music fans think that we do some really good music,” Seung-ho shared his goal.
MBLAQ will hold comeback stages on this week’s music shows, launching promotions for the new album. The group is all set to take another fresh start as trio.
