MBLAQ’s concert became a sea of tears. While being embroiled in controversy over the rumor of ‘breaking up’ or ‘leaving the group’, members burst out sobbing on the stage. However, the meaning of tears was hard to understand. Was it tears shed for sorrow that it would be the last stage or just tears of making a new resolution? They concluded the concert, leaving word that “Nothing at all has been decided yet”.
The five-member boy group, MBLAQ (Seungho, G.O, Lee Joon, Cheon Dung, Mir) held an exclusive concert titled ‘Curtain Call’ at Olympic Hall located in Olympic Park, Bangi-dong, Sonpa-gu, Seoul, Korea on 29th November. The much-awaited thing for fans at this concert would have been the talk about ‘whether the team exists or not’, rather than ‘releasing a new song for the first time’.
Members started the concert keeping quiet tongues about this. Splendid but refined performances and stage manners were presented just like the other days. At the end of the concert, they opened their mouth at last.
It was ambiguous. They talked in a tone of ‘they would keep the team’, but did not directly reveal that ‘they are not disbanding’. It was the team’s youngest, Mir who stated to talk about it. He said, “I was sad since it looked like that due to various suppositions and conjectures although we’re not the end and we’re not even thinking about it”. However, G.O saved his breath and just said, “This is my last moment of happiness, I don’t want today to end”, leaving regret.
In advance, Cheon Dung and Lee Joon, at the center of being embroiled in the rumor of leaving the team due to the termination of exclusive contract, also refrained from speaking about breaking up or existing, but only expressed their thanks to fans. Seungho, the leader of the team, stated in the last bridge video, “I will not forget MBLAQ though members go separate ways”.
For certain, there were different tones in members’ mention. Some reporters that were at the spot this day wrote articles titled ‘announcement of breakup’ regarding their ambiguous statements.
Meanwhile, an official from MBLAQ’s agency, J.Tune Camp met behind the stage after the concert adamantly stated, “Of course MBLAQ is not going to disband”. However, like Seungho said at last, it seems that nothing at all has been decided yet.
The concert was held under the concept of ‘Closing Act 1’. Their new Act 2 holds forth the possibility that each member would continue their separate ways, maintaining the group MBLAQ. Can image of MBLAQ’s 5 members acting together be seen again?
